a bit about me,

an experience design director
living and working in atlanta, ga. with 10+ years industry experience.

I consider myself a people person. Leading people, collaborating with people, listening to people, solving problems for people. I believe in thoughtfully designed experiences. Moments crafted through a deep understanding of people, of industry, and of needs. I have a curiosity for storytelling, technology, human behavior, and the many ways they intersect. I have had the privilege of working on core digital products for key clients including State Farm, Apple, HCA, StubHub, Forever21, and Amway, RCP, Avis Budget Group.

I am a mother, a potter, a backpacker, book-worm, and a coach. Having one foot in design and one foot in leadership is the best place I’ve been in my career so far. I am humbled by the opportunity to be at the forefront of design and innovation, in the unique position to fully immerse myself in a variety of industries in order to inspire change from the inside out.

Where You Can Find My Work

My Leadership Tool Belt

  • I’ve helped establish a few design teams in my 10+ years in industry. Team building requires patience. Trust in your hires. Knowledge of your clients, and the skills you need to meet their needs. It requires attention to culture and to relationships. It demands attention to details, a mastery of process, and the ability to effectively communicate your path and goals every step of the way. Occasionally, it requires the self awareness and willingness to step back and pivot when you realize you’re headed down a path that doesn’t meet your goals.

  • This is my bread and butter. Design thinking and the many methodologies within are the fun part of a design leaders job. It’s how we connect, plan, and focus with our internal companies and clients. In reality, there are too many frameworks to count and what I’ve ultimately found is that each individual defines their own set of what works and what they’re good at based on their strategic experience. I have my own [flexible] set and I’d love to share it with you.

  • Digital Transformation is an area in my field that I grew to love after years of experience helping clients like Omaha Steaks, Amway, State Farm, and TGIFridays, bring new life into their brands through next generation digital experiences. When we approach digital transformation (an often overused term imo) we don’t just think about the products, we also take in the internal processes and ways of thinking/working. We teach our clients how we put the customer first, trust data and research to drive us, and use innovation to stamp out competitors.

  • While I love design strategy and leadership I am a UX-er at heart. Solving a UX problem still brings me a peaceful sense of accomplishment. I have often found myself in situations that required a sort of “UX SWAT Team” to help recover a client relationship and user experience.

  • Helping designers who are younger in their careers build new skills, lean into their strengths, flex their strategic muscles… it’s not for everyone. But it is for me. Goal setting. Growth. Training. Practice. Feedback. These are key to assembling a ‘dream team’.
